Laguna 22
Description
The Laguna 22 is a lightweight, trailerable fiberglass sailboat designed by W. Shad Turner and built by Laguna Yachts from 1983 to 1987, with approximately 100–200 units produced before the company's bankruptcy. An evolution of the Windrose 22 and Balboa 22 using the same hull molds, it features a fin keel with transom-hung rudder, raked stem, and reverse transom, balancing coastal cruising comfort with club racing potential under MORC/PHRF rules (~210–230). Powered by an outboard auxiliary (typically 4–9.9 hp in a well), with tiller steering and optional pop-top cabin for added headroom, it’s agile and forgiving for beginners while offering stability for small families.
