Lager 40

Lager 40

Description

The Lager 40 is a high-performance IOR One Tonner-inspired sailboat designed by the renowned French duo Joubert/Nivelt (Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt), who drew it as a production evolution of their highly successful 1983 Admiral's Cup winner Diva. Built by Wiggers Custom Yachts Ltd. in Canada starting in 1984, it features fiberglass construction with a Klegecell core for a lightweight yet strong hull, a fin keel with lead ballast and spade rudder, and a powerful fractional sloop rig optimized for light-to-moderate airs with clean hull lines, an undistorted stern, and excellent upwind and reaching capabilities as a racer with some cruising potential. Only a very limited number—approximately 7 hulls—were ever produced, making it a rare collector's item among IOR-era designs.
