Description
The Kells 25 was designed by Paul A. Lindh and introduced around 1973 by Kells Corp., a small manufacturer in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Kells emerged during the early 1970s fiberglass boom, targeting budget-conscious sailors with trailerable designs amid rising demand for low-maintenance boats. The 25 was a mid-sized extension of Lindh's Kells 23 (1971), incorporating a longer waterline for better cruising efficiency while retaining the swing keel for beaching versatility. Marketed as an "Outrider" variant for its exploratory coastal focus, it was offered factory-finished or as a kit, reflecting Kells' modest operation. Production was brief, ending around 1977 when Kells ceased operations due to the late-1970s recession, escalating resin costs, and competition from larger builders like Catalina.
