Jeanneau Fun 23 (Ranger 23)

Description

The Jeanneau Fun 23 is a lively French trailerable one-design racer-dayboat designed by Joubert & Nivelt and produced by Jeanneau from 1982 to around 1992 (with a short run in France after U.S. production). At 23.33 feet LOA, it's the brainchild of French sailor Alain Forgeot, inspired by the Soling class but with an overlapping jib for added versatility. Emphasizing speed and simplicity in a lightweight fiberglass hull with a fractional sloop rig and swing keel, it's optimized for club racing, day sails, or short overnights—trailerable under 3,000 lb loaded for easy transport. Ranger Yachts in Tampa, FL, built about 100 units for the U.S. market, while Jeanneau produced a smaller number in France, fostering an active European one-design class. Today, it's a cult favorite for budget racers seeking J/24-like thrills in a compact package.
