J/7

Description

The J/7 (launched 2024, first deliveries 2025) is J/Boats’ 22′8″ ultralight, high-performance trailer-sailer designed by Alan Johnstone as the spiritual successor to the J/24 for the single- and double-handed era: just 1,850 lb with a 900 lb retractable lead bulb, carbon rig, 301 sq ft square-top main and self-tacking jib (SA/D ~34), plus an 860 sq ft asymmetric on a retractable sprit. It planes early, regularly hits the mid-to-high teens off the wind, launches from any ramp or beach, tows behind a mid-size SUV, and can be rigged single-handed in minutes. The open cockpit and all controls at the helm make it genuinely one-person friendly, while a small cuddy offers two berths for overnighting. Priced at ~$80k, the J/7 is already being hailed as the new benchmark for fast, simple, addictive sailing in a package that fits in a garage and needs no crane.
