Islander 40 (Peterson 40 or Islander P40R)
Description
The Islander P 40R (also known as the Islander 40 or Islander Peterson 40) is a classic American racer-cruiser sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Doug Peterson. First built in 1979 by Islander Yachts, it measures 39.5 feet in length overall (LOA) and was produced through the mid-1980s, with around 100 hulls made. It's known for its solid fiberglass construction, balanced performance in both racing and cruising, and spacious interior layout for its era, including a V-berth forward, saloon, galley, and aft cabin.
