Description
The Islander Freeport 41 (also known as the Freeport 41 Ketch) is a classic American bluewater cruising ketch designed by Charles Davies with interior updates by Robert Perry. Built by Islander Yachts from 1973 to 1983 (with sailboatdata listing primary production in 1974), approximately 80–100 hulls were produced, though some sources cite around 30. Derived from the Islander 40MS, it features a robust fiberglass hull with a long keel for stability, a center cockpit for protected helming, and a ketch rig for versatile sail handling in trade winds or heavy weather. Renowned for its seaworthiness, spacious layout, and liveaboard potential, it's a favorite for extended voyages, though its age means common refits include rigging, chainplates, and engine upgrades.
