The Islander 30, designed by Joseph McGlasson—the founder of Islander Yachts—and introduced in 1968 by Wayfarer Yacht Corp. as a brief-production run (limited to a handful of hulls before replacement in 1970) of a raised-deck evolution from the Islander 29, embodies early fiberglass cruising simplicity with a focus on stable coastal voyaging and family-friendly accommodations in a compact, seaworthy package; constructed in solid fiberglass with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, it measures 29.58 feet LOA with a 23.33-foot LWL, 8.83-foot beam, shallow 3.67-foot draft, 8,400-pound displacement, and 2,900 pounds of internal lead ballast for reassuring righting moment.
