Island Packet 300

Description

The Island Packet 300 is a compact American bluewater cruiser designed by Bob Johnson and produced by Island Packet Yachts from 1994 to 2000, with approximately 40 units built. At 30 feet LOA, it upholds the brand's reputation for "safety, seaworthiness, and simplicity," featuring a cutter rig, full keel for stability, and solid fiberglass construction tailored for couples or small families on coastal cruising, gunkholing, or light offshore passages. Its moderate beam (10 feet) and shoal draft deliver surprising interior volume—sleeping up to 5—with a focus on durability (encapsulated lead ballast, no hull core) and ease of handling. As a "pocket IP," it's a scaled-down version of larger models like the 320, offering liveaboard potential in a trailerable size but prioritizing comfort over speed.
