Island Packet 26 - 1

Description

The Island Packet 26 is an iconic American pocket cruiser designed by Walter Scott and Bob Johnson, marking the debut model for Island Packet Yachts (after initial builds by Traditional Watercraft). Produced from 1980 to 1986, it evolved from the tooling of the Bombay Express 26, with the MKI (1980-1982, 29 built) and MKII (1982-1986, 46 built) variants emphasizing bluewater seaworthiness in a compact, full-keel package. At 26 feet LOD (30 feet LOA including bowsprit), it's renowned for its sturdy fiberglass construction, cutter rig, and centerboard for shallow draft, making it ideal for couples or small families seeking coastal exploration, gunkholing, or light offshore passages. With a focus on safety, comfort, and simplicity, it sleeps 4-5 and offers surprising interior volume thanks to its 10.5-foot beam.
