Illusion Mini 12

Description

The Illusion 12 (often called the Illusion Mini 12) is a strict one-design, 12-foot keelboat that is a 1/3-scale replica of the full-size 12-Metre yachts that raced for the America’s Cup from the 1950s to 1987. Designed in 1985 by Bruce Kirby (creator of the Laser and Ideal 18) specifically for the Hampton Yacht Club in Virginia, it was conceived as a low-cost, high-performance, single-handed or double-handed racer that delivers the look, feel, and tactics of a big 12-Metre in a trailerable package. Over 200 boats have been built since 1986, with active fleets in Virginia, Rhode Island, Ontario, Texas, and growing numbers on the West Coast.
