Hylas 42
Description
The Hylas 42 is a premium American Taiwanese recreational sailboat designed as a high-performance coastal and blue-water cruiser, renowned for its sleek lines, speed, and quality construction. Designed by German Frers, it was built by Queen Long Marine Co., Ltd. (Taiwan) in partnership with Hylas Yachts USA from 1985 to 1990. During this 6-year production run, exactly 22 units were constructed, making it one of the rarest models in the Hylas lineup and highly sought after by discerning sailors. It's the only aft-cockpit design in the early Hylas series (unlike the center-cockpit 44), constructed of solid fiberglass with a fin keel and spade rudder for agile handling. The "racy" profile emphasizes performance over maximum interior volume, with a focus on offshore capability and elegant aesthetics often compared to Swans or Baltics.
