Hunter Legend 37.5
Description
The Hunter Legend 37.5 (built 1986–1994, with around 300 hulls produced) is widely regarded as one of the most successful and best-balanced designs Hunter ever created in the 1980s–90s Legend series. Designed by the Hunter Design Team under Cortland Steck, it measures 37 ft 6 in LOA with a generous 12 ft 8 in beam and a moderate displacement of 16,400 lbs (6,900 lbs ballast). It was offered with either a shoal-draft wing keel (4 ft 9 in) or a deeper bulb fin (6 ft 1 in). It introduced the full B&R backstay-less fractional rig with sharply swept spreaders that became a Hunter trademark, carrying a large roachy fully battened mainsail (~350 sq ft) and a 135–150% roller-furling genoa for roughly 780–820 sq ft upwind—delivering genuinely impressive performance for a cruising boat (PHRF typically 114–130).
