Hunter 49
Description
The Hunter 49 is an American recreational sailboat designed as a spacious coastal and blue-water cruiser, emphasizing comfort, performance, and innovative features for extended voyages. Designed by Glenn Henderson and the Hunter Design Team, it was built by Hunter Marine (now Marlow-Hunter) in the United States from 2007 to 2010. During this period, approximately 100–150 units were produced, based on market data and Hunter's production trends for similar models (e.g., the predecessor Hunter 46 had over 250 built); exact figures are not publicly detailed by the builder. It's constructed of fiberglass with a balsa-cored deck, featuring a modern hull form for better speed and stability. The design incorporates Hunter's signature "easy sailing" elements like a large cockpit, self-tacking jib, and optional in-mast furling for single-handed or short-handed operation.
