Hunter 450 Passage
Description
The Hunter Passage 450 (built 1996–2003, ~150 hulls) is a luxurious center-cockpit passage-maker designed by the Hunter Design Team with Glenn Henderson’s input, and remains one of the most spacious and best-finished 45-foot production boats Hunter ever built. At 44 ft 3 in LOA (46 ft 5 in including the davits and bowsprit) with a generous 14 ft beam and a moderate displacement of 26,000 lbs (10,400 lbs ballast), it was offered with either a shoal wing keel (5 ft 10 in) or deep bulb fin (6 ft 6 in). It features the signature backstay-less B&R fractional rig with swept spreaders, a large in-mast furling mainsail (~480 sq ft) and 110–135% roller-furling genoa (total upwind ~1,000–1,050 sq ft), plus an optional staysail or asymmetrical spinnaker—delivering respectable performance (PHRF 108–120) while being exceptionally easy to short-hand. The cockpit is huge, with twin wheels on later boats, a full walk-through transom, arch-mounted traveler, and electric primary winches standard.
