Marlow-Hunter 37
Description
The Marlow-Hunter 37 (built 2014–2019, with roughly 100 hulls produced) is the most recent and final iteration of the Hunter 37 lineage, a modern American fractional-rig coastal cruiser designed by Glenn Henderson and built by Marlow-Hunter after the 2012 ownership transition. At 37 feet 6 inches LOA (nearly 40 feet including the reverse transom and bowsprit) with a generous 12-foot 6-inch beam and a moderate displacement of 18,995 lbs (5,727 lbs cast-iron ballast), it was offered with either a shoal-draft wing keel (4 feet 11 inches) or a deeper bulb fin (6 feet 6 inches). It features the signature backstay-less B&R rig with swept spreaders, a large roachy fully battened mainsail (~350 sq ft) and roller-furling 110% jib (~720 sq ft total upwind), plus an optional asymmetrical spinnaker on a retractable carbon sprit—delivering excellent all-round performance (PHRF typically 114–132) while prioritizing ease of short-handed sailing. Stand-out features include twin helm stations with leather-wrapped wheels, a massive T-shaped cockpit with full walk-through reverse transom and drop-down swim platform, an arch-mounted mainsheet traveler for a clear cockpit, and a strikingly bright, contemporary interior finished in gloss cherry: enormous aft owner's stateroom with a true island queen berth and private en-suite head with separate shower stall, spacious forward VIP cabin with V-berth and second head access, large U-shaped galley with Corian counters and front-loading fridge/freezer, dedicated nav station, and a saloon with over 6 ft 6 in headroom—genuinely sleeping six adults in luxury. Faster, stiffer, and far better built than its predecessors (with upgraded vacuum-bagged hull lay-up, Kevlar reinforcements, and premium systems), the Marlow-Hunter 37 was marketed as the largest-volume production cruiser under 40 feet, blending genuine bluewater capability with liveaboard comfort. Production ended around 2019, but it remains highly sought-after on the used market from Florida to the Pacific Northwest, where owners praise its blend of speed, space, and refined styling.
