Hunter 36-2
Description
The Hunter 36-2 (built 2008–2012, ~320 hulls) is the final and most refined version of Hunter’s long-running 36-foot series, and many owners consider it the best 36-foot production cruiser Hunter ever built. Designed by Glenn Henderson, it measures 36 ft LOA (38 ft 6 in with the open reverse transom and bowsprit) with a generous 12 ft beam and a moderate displacement of 15,920 lbs (6,614 lbs ballast). It was offered with either a shoal-draft wing keel (4 ft 11 in) or deep fin (6 ft 6 in). It features the signature backstay-less B&R rig with swept spreaders, a large roachy in-mast furling mainsail (~380 sq ft) + 110 % roller-furling jib (total upwind ~750 sq ft), and an optional asymmetrical spinnaker on a retractable carbon sprit — delivering surprisingly good performance (PHRF typically 132–144) while remaining exceptionally easy to short-hand.
