Hunter 340

Description

The Hunter 340 (built 1997–2001, ~450 hulls) is one of the most successful and best-balanced 34-foot cruisers Hunter ever produced, and a direct evolution of the popular Legend 35.5/336 line. Designed by the Hunter Design Team with Glenn Henderson’s influence, it measures 33 ft 9 in LOA (almost 36 ft including the reverse transom and bowsprit) with a generous 11 ft 8 in beam and a moderate displacement of 11,030 lbs (4,500 lbs ballast). It was offered with either a shoal-draft wing keel (4 ft 6 in) or deeper bulb fin (6 ft). It features the signature backstay-less B&R fractional rig with sharply swept spreaders, a large roachy fully battened mainsail (~320 sq ft), roller-furling 110–135% genoa (total upwind ~650–700 sq ft), and an optional asymmetrical spinnaker on a retractable carbon sprit—delivering genuinely lively performance for a cruising boat (PHRF typically 135–150) while remaining exceptionally easy to short-hand.
