Hunter 33.5
Description
The Hunter 33.5 is a popular American coastal cruising sloop designed by Warren Luhrs and the Hunter Design Team, built by Hunter Marine from 1987 to 1994 with approximately 600 hulls produced—making it one of the yard's enduring best-sellers for families seeking affordable volume and versatility. As an evolution of the Hunter 33, it features a beamy hull with a bulb-wing shoal-draft keel and spade rudder for stability in shallows, a fractional sloop rig with swept spreaders (B&R style for easy tacking), and a walk-through transom for convenient boarding—ideal for shorthanded bay sailing, club racing, or weekend getaways in protected waters like the Great Lakes or Intracoastal Waterway. The aft cockpit seats 4-6 with improved backrests and a pedestal table, while the light-filled interior (oak trim) offers 2-cabin layouts sleeping 4-5, with a wraparound settee for lounging.
