Hunter 26.5

Description

The Hunter 26.5 is an American trailerable cruiser designed by the Hunter Design Team and built by Hunter Marine from 1985 to 1990, with over 1,000 hulls produced as a direct upscale replacement for the Hunter 25. At 26 feet 5 inches LOA with an 9-foot beam and a moderate displacement of 4,400 lbs (1,800 lbs ballast in the fixed winged shoal keel, draft 3 feet 6 inches), it was one of the first Hunter models to feature a true walk-through transom, wheel steering from a pedestal in a large T-shaped cockpit, and a surprisingly open and bright interior. The masthead sloop rig carries about 258 sq ft upwind (fully battened main + 130% roller-furling genoa) and an optional symmetrical spinnaker. Below, a pop-top provides over 6 feet of headroom, and the layout includes a huge aft double berth (athwartships under the cockpit), private forward V-berth, enclosed head with shower, full galley with two-burner stove and icebox, and a dinette that converts to another double—comfortably sleeping six.
