Description
The Hughes 31 is a 31-foot Canadian-built performance cruiser designed by Sparkman & Stephens (S&S #2120) and constructed by Hughes Boat Works (Toronto, Ontario) from 1977 to 1984, with ~120 hulls produced. Known for its classic S&S lines, moderate fin keel, skeg-hung rudder, and robust hand-laid fiberglass, it blends seaworthy offshore capability with responsive handling and a surprisingly roomy interior—making it a favorite for coastal cruising, club racing, and short-handed sailing.
