Holder 14 MK 1
Description
The Holder 14 Mk I is a compact, performance‑oriented dinghy‑style sailboat designed by Ron Holder in the early 1980s. Ron Holder was well known for creating small, easily handled fiberglass sailboats that balanced stability and speed—most famously the Holder 12, Holder 14, and later models produced under the Hobie Cat and AquaCat brands after corporate mergers. The Holder 14 Mk I was built by Hobie Cat Company (USA) and marketed as both a fun recreational sailboat and an entry‑level racing dinghy. Compared to the later Mk II version, the Mk I had simpler rigging and a slightly lighter hull, making it more responsive in light air but less optimized for competitive racing. The boat’s planing hull and centerboard configuration gave it lively performance, yet it remained stable enough for beginners or small crews.
