Hobie Getaway

Description

The Hobie Getaway is a 16 ft 7 in (5.04 m) rotational-molded polyethylene beach catamaran designed by Hobie Cat in 2001 and still in production in 2025, widely regarded as the ultimate “big, friendly beach cat” for resorts, sailing schools, and families who want high-performance thrills without the complexity or intimidation of earlier Hobie designs. With a 7 ft 10 in beam, fully battened 150 sq ft roller-furling mainsail (optional 50 sq ft jib adds 200 sq ft total), mesh trampoline wings, and adjustable trapeze wires, the Getaway seats up to six adults comfortably, yet weighs only 390 lbs. and launches off a dolly in ankle-deep water. The signature Hobie features are all here: kick-up rudders, a boomless main for safety, color-coded lines, and the famous Hobie “one-pull” mainsheet that lets even novices fly a hull in 10 knots within minutes.
