Hinterhoeller 25
Description
The Hinterhoeller 25 (also known as the HR-25 or Hinterhoeller HR 25) is a classic Canadian daysailer/cruiser from the late 1960s/early 1970s. It was designed by George Hinterhoeller (founder of Hinterhoeller Yachts and a key figure in Canadian fiberglass boatbuilding, best known for the Shark 24) as a slightly larger, roomier evolution of his iconic Shark 24 — retaining the fast, responsive hull shape but adding more interior space and comfort for weekend cruising or family outings. Built by Hinterhoeller Yachts Ltd. (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) starting around 1969, it features a sleek, lightweight fiberglass (GRP) hull with a fin keel and transom-hung rudder for good handling and upwind performance. It's praised for its lively sailing characteristics, stability, and durability — a "pocket rocket" with a cult following in Canada (especially the Great Lakes region) for club racing and coastal fun. Some later hulls may have been finished or marketed under C&C influence after company ties.
