Hanse 300

Description

The Hanse 300 is a compact, entry-level cruising sailboat produced by Hanse Yachts AG, a German yacht builder known for its innovative and user-friendly designs. Launched in 1998 as one of Hanse’s earliest models, it was designed by Carl Baier and built under the direction of founder Michael Schmidt, reflecting the company’s roots in blending Scandinavian simplicity with German engineering. The 300 is a fractional sloop emphasizing ease of handling, with a self-tacking jib and lines led aft for single-handed or small-crew sailing. Its sleek, functional design makes it ideal for coastal cruising, day sailing, or occasional club racing, with a CE Category B rating (suitable for offshore passages up to 200 miles from shore in moderate conditions). Production ran from 1998 to around 2002, with the model succeeded by designs like the Hanse 311 and 315. The 300 helped establish Hanse’s reputation for affordable, quality cruisers and remains a popular choice on the used market for its simplicity and value.
