Hans Christian Cristina 48

Description

The Hans Christian Christina 48 (often just "Christina 48") is the flagship of Hans Christian's short-lived "modern" Christina series—commissioned in the mid-1980s as a faster, more performance-oriented alternative to the brand's ultra-traditional full-keel classics, blending Doug Peterson's sleek IOR-influenced hull with the legendary HC teak opulence below. Designed by renowned racer-cruiser architect Doug Peterson (with Scott Sprague on smaller siblings), it was built starting 1986 in Taiwanese yards (primarily Horng Bin Marine) before molds moved to Thailand in the early 1990s; production ended by the late 1990s with far fewer than 50 hulls (exact numbers unconfirmed but rare). Unlike the canoe-stern Traditional 48T (center cockpit, full keel, ~30 built 1984–2000s by Andersen/Pantawee), the Christina features a cutaway forefoot, skeg-hung rudder, reverse transom, and no bowsprit for better upwind bite and maneuverability—yet retains bronze ports, massive ballast, and interiors like a luxury apartment.
