Description
The Gulfstar 44 Ketch is a classic offshore cruising yacht designed by Vince Lazzara and built by Gulfstar Yachts in St. Petersburg, Florida, between 1978 and 1984. It represents one of Gulfstar’s finest and most balanced designs—combining the luxurious interior and solid construction the brand was known for with respectable sailing performance and bluewater capability. The hull was drawn by Ted Hood’s design office during Gulfstar’s later “quality era,” marking a clear shift away from the heavier, slower cruisers of the early 1970s toward faster, more modern underbodies with a fin keel and skeg‑hung rudder. The result is a graceful, center‑cockpit ketch that tracks well, manages easily, and provides exceptional comfort at sea.
