Description
The Grand Soleil 45 (Frers)—also known as the Grand Soleil 45 Frers—is a classic Italian performance cruiser-racer from Cantiere del Pardo (Grand Soleil Yachts), designed by renowned naval architect Germán Frers (often nicknamed "Spaghetti Swan" for its elegant, Swan-inspired lines). Produced starting in 1988 (through the 1990s, with some hulls into early 2000s; around 100+ built), it's one of the brand's most successful and timeless models from that era. It offers a perfect blend of speed, seaworthiness, balanced handling, and luxurious Italian craftsmanship—fast in moderate winds, comfortable for offshore/coastal passages or family cruising, and competitive in club racing or events like the Fastnet or classic regattas. This masthead sloop with fin keel (often with bulb) and spade rudder is known for its dry ride, responsive helm (light and precise), strong righting moment, and elegant teak interior.
