Gloucester 16

Description

The Gloucester 16 is a compact recreational sailboat, originally designed by C. William Lapworth in the mid-1960s as the Newport 16 and later produced by Gloucester Yachts from 1986 to 1989, with approximately 1,300 units built. Measuring 15 feet 7 inches in length overall, it features a fiberglass hull with wood trim, a displacement of 900 pounds, and a 200-pound cast iron swing keel for stability, alongside an optional fixed keel variant with a 2.5-foot draft. Renowned for its trailerable design and suitability as a mini-cruiser, the boat includes a small cuddy cabin accommodating two adults for overnighting, a roller-furling jib, and a spacious cockpit ideal for day sailing or training beginners, including teenagers.
