Glen-L Steelaway

Glen-L Steelaway

Description

The Glen-L Steelaway is a 20‑foot welded steel pocket cruiser designed by Glen L. Witt and offered as plans by Glen‑L Marine Designs since the 1970s. Intended as an affordable, rugged weekender for coastal cruising, dozens to low hundreds have been built by amateur welders worldwide. The design features simple flat‑panel steel construction (1/8" plate), a semi‑displacement hull, modest pilothouse/cabin with berths for two, galley, and head, powered by outboard or inboard engine. Its heavy steel build provides exceptional durability and safety, though at the cost of weight and fuel efficiency. Ideal for fishermen, explorers, and DIY builders seeking an indestructible small cruiser.
