Glen L Sneakbox

Description

The Glen-L Sneak Box is a modern, plans-built adaptation of the classic Barnegat Bay Sneak Box, a historic wooden duck hunting boat from the 19th century used in the New Jersey marshes and coastal bays. Designed by Glen L. Witt, founder of Glen-L Marine, this version was introduced in the 1970s and remains available as a DIY project for amateur builders. Unlike traditional solid-wood Barnegat Bay models, the Glen-L design uses inexpensive sheet plywood for easy, affordable construction, resulting in a lightweight (115 lb.) vessel suitable for recreational sailing, rowing, or small outboard power. It's ideal for solo or small family use (1–2 people) in protected waters like marshes, lakes, or calm bays, emphasizing simplicity, portability, and fun. The sprit rig and daggerboard make it forgiving for beginners.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
