Description
The Gartside 6m Centerboard Lugger, Design #166 by Paul Gartside, is a compact, trailerable wooden weekend cruiser that evokes the charm of traditional British fishing luggers while incorporating modern construction for ease of building and shallow-water exploration. Launched in the 1990s as a versatile daysailer with overnight capability, it features a balanced lug yawl rig for simple, powerful performance and a flat-floored hull that dries out upright on beaches or mudflats—perfect for escaping crowds in estuaries or coastal nooks. Primarily a home-build project using strip-plank, clinker plywood, or cold-molded methods, it balances elegance with practicality, accommodating 4–6 in the cockpit and 2 in the cozy cuddy; only a handful of examples exist, with plans (~$20–$100 USD for study/full sets) available from Gartside Boats,
