Freedom 25 Sloop

Freedom 25 Sloop

Description

The Freedom 25 Sloop is a classic American cruiser-racer from the Freedom Yachts lineup, built by Tillotson-Pearson (later TPI Composites) in Rhode Island, USA, from 1980 to 1987. Designed by Gary Hoyt (a respected naval architect known for fast, innovative boats like the Freedom 32/36 series), it's one of the early Freedom models featuring the brand's signature unstayed carbon-fiber mast and self-tacking jib—eliminating standing rigging for simplicity, low maintenance, and easy short-handed sailing. The Freedom 25 was marketed as a fast, trailerable pocket cruiser with excellent performance (light displacement, high SA/D ratio) and a surprising amount of interior volume for its length (V-berth forward, settees, small galley/head; sleeps 4 modestly with ~6 ft headroom). It's known for its speed in light-to-moderate winds, forgiving handling, and innovative rig (rotating mast on some, but most have fixed carbon spar). The boat is trailerable (fin keel, shallow draft options), making it ideal for seasonal lake or coastal use.
