Hudson Force 50
Description
The Force 50 (more precisely the Hudson Force 50) is a classic heavy-displacement bluewater ketch (masthead ketch rig) designed by William Garden (a renowned Canadian naval architect known for robust, seaworthy cruising yachts like the Force series and similar Garden designs). It was built primarily by Hudson Custom Boats (Taiwan), often in collaboration with or under license from Cheoy Lee (a major Taiwanese yard), starting in 1974. The design is a William Garden original, with some hulls sharing molds or similarities to the Formosa 51 (same designer, similar lines but different interior/cockpit layouts—stairs vs ladder in some comparisons). It's a full-keeled (long keel) cruiser with a reputation as a "go-anywhere" passage-maker—tough, comfortable, and stable for offshore or world cruising (many have circumnavigated or done extended passages).
