Finnrose 45

Finnrose 45

Description

The Finnrose 45 is a rare, robust deck saloon (pilothouse) masthead ketch designed by Angelo Lavranos while working for Angus Primrose. It was built by Turun Veneveistämö Oy (Turun Viviestamo, a Finnish yard) in fiberglass starting in 1972, with only 8 hulls completed—making it extremely scarce and a cult favorite among bluewater enthusiasts for its tank-like construction, safety, comfort, and global cruising capability. This is a heavy-displacement motorsailer (often described as a "super league" deck saloon for strength and pleasure), with a pilothouse for inside steering in bad weather, large tanks (fuel/water often 1,200+ liters each), multiple cabins (3 typical, sleeps 8–10), and a classic ketch rig for balance and short-handed sailing. It's not a racer but a comfy 6–8 kt cruiser (hefty skeg-hung rudder, modified fin keel in some, excellent motion in seas).
