Frers & Cibilis 44 (F&C 44)
Description
The F&C 44/13.3 (also listed as F&C 44 or Frers & Cibilis 44) is a classic bluewater ketch (masthead ketch rig) designed by German Frers (the renowned Argentine naval architect behind many world-class yachts, including America's Cup contenders and maxis). It was built by Alberto Cibilis (often abbreviated as F&C for Frers & Cibilis) in Argentina from around 1978 to 1992 (limited production, likely 20–40 hulls total, as it's a semi-custom high-end cruiser). This is a heavy-displacement, fin-keel (with skeg-hung rudder) monohull emphasizing seaworthiness, comfort, and elegant lines—wide side decks, protected cockpit, beautiful teak/wood interior (impressive joinery), and proven ocean capability (some have logged extensive passages). It's not a mass-production boat but a cult favorite for its craftsmanship, motion in big seas, and timeless aesthetics (clipper-ish bow hints, tumblehome, low freeboard).
