Farr 39 M L

Description

The Farr 39ML (Farr design #336, often abbreviated as "Farr 39 M L") is a high-performance racer-cruiser sloop designed by Bruce Farr and built by Cookson Boats (New Zealand) starting in 1995. Approximately ~20–30 units were produced through the late 1990s, targeting IRC and one-design racing with a nod to coastal cruising. The "ML" denotes Masthead Light configuration, emphasizing a tall masthead rig for power in medium-to-heavy air, low displacement for planning, and lightweight construction for agility. Also known as the Cookson 12M in some markets, it's renowned for its carbon-reinforced hull options, wide beam, and seaworthiness—winning multiple Sydney-Hobart and Fastnet divisions. With a PHRF rating of ~60–75, it's a vintage grand prix standout, blending speed (up to 15+ knots planning) with basic liveaboard comforts for 4–6.
