FARR 39 C-R

Description

The Farr 39 C-R (Farr design #145, also known as Farr 39 Cruiser-Racer) is a high-performance IOR racer-cruiser sloop designed by Bruce Farr in 1979 and built primarily by Tartan Yachts (USA) and licensed yards like C&C and Dehler (Germany) from 1979 to ~1983. Approximately ~100 units were produced, targeting IOR One Ton Cup and offshore racing (e.g., SORC, Fastnet) while offering light cruising capability. The "C-R" emphasizes its dual-purpose nature: a planning hull for speed and basic accommodations for weekends. With a fractional rig, fin keel, and spade rudder, it was Farr’s breakthrough in lightweight production racing, influencing the Farr 40 and Cookson 50. PHRF ~90–105; known for blistering reaches (12–15+ knots) and seaworthiness in heavy weather.
