Farr 10-20 (Farr 1020)
Description
The Farr 10-20 (most commonly written as Farr 1020 or Farr 10.20) is a highly successful one-design racing/cruising keelboat designed by Bruce Farr (of Farr Yacht Design) in 1981 (some sources cite 1983 for final tweaks). It originated in New Zealand as part of a range of trailerable yachts from Sea Nymph Boats (later McDell Marine), building on the success of earlier Farr models like the Farr 6000. The strict one-design rules (to keep boats competitive regardless of age) and high-quality construction made it a standout club racer and national class in New Zealand, with about 150 hulls built over the years—still active today with an owners' association (farr1020.org.nz) hosting regattas, twilight racing, and national championships.
