Fairwinds 27
Description
The Fairwinds 27 (sometimes listed as Fairwind 27) is a Canadian-built pocket cruiser designed by Peter Barrett and produced by Luger Industries in British Columbia from roughly 1978 to 1984. With a moderate-displacement hull (LOA 27′2″, LWL 22′6″, beam 9′4″, displacement ~7,400 lbs, ballast 2,150 lbs lead), swing keel (draft 2′11″ board up / 5′3″ board down), and a conservative fractional sloop rig (SA/D ≈14.5), it was conceived as a trailerable bluewater-capable mini-yacht—seaworthy, versatile, and surprisingly quick for its size in the right conditions. Below decks, the layout is cozy but remarkably livable for a 27-footer: V-berth forward, enclosed head, compact galley to port, small dinette that converts to a double, and a quarter berth aft, with about 5′10″ headroom under the raised coachroof.
