Ericson 39 B
Description
The Ericson 39B is the trunk-cabin (raised cabin) variant of Bruce King’s 1970s Ericson 39 design, introduced in 1972 as a more cruising-oriented alternative to the flush-deck 39. Only 19–20 hulls were built (vs. ~110 flush-deck models), making it one of Ericson’s rarest production boats. The “B” stands for “B-plan”—a raised cabin trunk that adds headroom, storage, and a more traditional interior layout while retaining the same powerful rig and seaworthy hull. Owners describe it as “the perfect couple’s blue water boat”—fast, stable, and surprisingly spacious for a 39-footer.
