Er 25 (Frers 26)
Description
The ER 25, also known as the Frers 26, is a Brazilian-built performance sailboat designed by renowned German naval architect German Frers for the International Offshore Rule (IOR) 1/4-ton class in the mid-1970s. Produced by Daniel Cassarino e Cia in São Paulo, Brazil, it featured a racing variant optimized for offshore competition and a detuned cruiser version called the Tonner 26 for family use. With sleek lines, a fin keel, and spade rudder, it emphasized speed and handling in moderate winds, bridging the gap between one-design racers and compact cruisers. Only a limited number were built (~50–100 estimated), making it a rare find today. Later, the molds were acquired by Mariner Yachts (Brazil), rebranded as the Ranger 26/Mariner 26, extending its legacy into the 1980s. Its agile design influenced small IOR-era boats, akin to Warwick Hood's racers or Robert H. Perry's performance cruisers but tailored for South American waters.
