Ensenada 25 Std

Description

The Ensenada 25 is a lightweight, trailerable performance sailboat designed by Ken Hankinson for Glen-L Marine Designs as a custom racer for Southern California waters, emphasizing speed, stability, and ease of construction. Plans were released for homebuilders, resulting in a handful of unique examples built from the 1970s to 1990s, often blending racing prowess with cruiser comforts. Featuring a rounded hard-chine hull for stiffness without weight, a swing keel for shallow draft, and a spacious cockpit, it excelled in events like the Newport-Ensenada Race—placing 2nd in PHRF "G" Class on debut and outperforming multiple classes on corrected time. Its plywood-epoxy build yields a "pleasing hull shape" that's surprisingly agile, akin to the Ensenada 20's trailerable ethos or the ER 25's IOR agility but optimized for amateur construction and coastal racing.
