Description
The Dufour 410 Grand Large is a French sailboat designed by Umberto Felci and Patrick Roséo as a performance cruiser, ideal for family coastal cruising, club racing, and occasional offshore passages on varied waters. It features a fiberglass monohull with a fin keel (bulb optional) and spade rudder for responsive upwind handling, a wide beam for stability, and a fractional sloop rig for dynamic sail trim and excellent light-air performance. The design emphasizes lightweight construction for agility, a moderate displacement/length ratio for quick acceleration, and a high ballast ratio for stiffness in gusts, with a comfort ratio suitable for extended weekends. Introduced in 2013 by Dufour Yachts in La Rochelle, France, the Dufour 410 Grand Large was the flagship of the updated Grand Large range, superseding the earlier Dufour 405 with a completely new hull and deck molded by Felci/Roséo to incorporate larger-yacht functionalities like spacious cockpits and innovative layouts in a compact package. It reflected Dufour's mid-2010s focus on blending Italian design flair with French build quality during the post-recession cruiser-racer boom, targeting couples or small families seeking easy shorthanded sailing. Production ran until around 2018, with approximately 150–200 units built, before being succeeded by the Dufour 412.
