Dufour 41-2
Description
The Dufour 41 is a French luxury performance sailing yacht designed by Umberto Felci (hull) and Luca Ardizio (interior) as a spacious coastal and bluewater cruiser-racer, ideal for family voyages, charter operations, and competitive sailing. It features a fiberglass monohull with a fin keel (bulb optional) and single spade rudder for agile upwind handling, an extended beam with chines for exceptional stability and interior volume, and a fractional sloop rig for responsive sail trim and strong light-air performance. The design emphasizes lightweight yet robust construction for quick acceleration, a moderate displacement/length ratio for balanced motion, and a high ballast ratio for stiffness in gusts, with a comfort ratio classifying it as a capable ocean-crosser. Introduced in 2023 by Dufour Yachts in La Rochelle, France, the Dufour 41 is the latest in the Grand Large range, evolving from the Dufour 390 to incorporate innovative layouts like a "peninsula bed" master suite and 60% more glazing for natural light in a sub-42 ft package. Conceived during Dufour's focus on blending Italian aesthetics with French engineering, it targets affluent owners seeking shorthanded ease and style. Production continues as of 2025, with initial reviews (e.g., Yachting World, Cruising World) praising its "game-changing" volume, "smooth cruiser" qualities, and "respectably fast, responsive" handling—"a lively performer with solid construction."
