Description
The Dufour 27 is a French sailboat designed by Michel Dufour as a versatile coastal cruiser-racer, suitable for family day sailing, weekend overnights, and club racing on lakes or protected waters. It features a fiberglass monohull with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder for balanced handling and protection, a masthead sloop rig for straightforward sail management, and a semi-flush deck with high freeboard for enhanced interior volume and stability in moderate winds. The design prioritizes seaworthiness with a moderate displacement/length ratio, making it forgiving for beginners while offering responsive performance upwind. Introduced in 1972 by Dufour Yachts in La Rochelle, France, the Dufour 27 was one of the builder's early mass-produced models during the post-1960s fiberglass boom, reflecting Michel Dufour's vision for affordable, high-quality cruisers inspired by his earlier designs like the Dufour 24.
