Duckling 14

Description

The Duckling 14 Sail is a compact, versatile sailing dinghy designed by Sam Devlin of Devlin Designing Boat Builders in Olympia, Washington (USA). Introduced in the early 2000s as an evolution of the rowing-focused Duckling 14 Rower, it adds a simple sailing rig to create a lightweight, trailerable dayboat ideal for solo or small-family outings on lakes, rivers, or sheltered coastal waters. Built from stitch-and-glue plywood/epoxy for affordability and durability, it's praised for its clean lines, ease of construction, and multi-mode capability (sail, row, or motor). The design draws from traditional workboat aesthetics but with modern simplicity, making it a favorite for DIY builders and casual sailors. Dozens have been built from plans, emphasizing low cost (~$1,000–$2,000 materials) and quick assembly (200–300 hours).

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
