Dory 12
Description
The Devlin Dory 12 (often just called the "12' Dory" or "Dory 12") is a compact, versatile rowing and sailing dory designed by renowned wooden boat builder Sam Devlin of Devlin Designing Boat Builders. Introduced in the early 2000s as part of Devlin's "stitch-and-glue" plywood series, it's inspired by traditional Grand Banks dories but modernized for recreational use. This lightweight, trailerable boat excels as an entry-level tender, fishing skiff, or sail trainer, with options for a small outboard motor. It's praised for its simplicity, seaworthiness in protected waters, and ease of home construction—ideal for beginners or those seeking a "garage project" boat. Only a few hundred have been built (mostly custom or kits), making it a niche favorite among wooden boat enthusiasts.
