Dolphin Jr.
Description
The Dolphin Junior (also known as the Dolphin 10 or Dolphin Jr.) is a compact, fiberglass lateen-rigged sailing dinghy designed by brothers Glenn and Murray Corcorran as a youth-oriented companion to their larger Dolphin Senior (15'). First introduced around 1965 by Silverline Boats in Moorhead, Minnesota, it was built until the early 1980s, with production shifting briefly to Dolphin Sailboat Company in Independence, Missouri. Marketed as an affordable "starter" boat for kids or beginners, it's a scaled-down Sunfish-style board boat emphasizing simplicity, stability, and fun on small lakes, ponds, or calm bays. With a production run of several hundred units, it's rarer than the Senior but cherished for its forgiving nature and easy handling—perfect for introducing young sailors to the sport.
