DEL REY 50

DEL REY 50

Description

The Del Rey 50 (also known as the Del Rey 50 or Blue Buoy Del Rey 50) is a substantial bluewater cruising ketch (or sometimes sloop/cutter) designed by William Crealock (with Edward DeLong in some credits) and built by Blue Buoy Yacht Co. in the United States (California) starting in 1970. Production was limited (mostly sold as kits, so details vary significantly between hulls; some finished professionally), with construction continuing into the early 1980s in fiberglass (solid GRP hull, often with teak trim and interiors). It's a heavy-displacement, center-cockpit cruiser known for robust construction, spacious accommodations, good seakeeping, and suitability for extended offshore or liveaboard use — a "proper" Crealock design with a reputation for strength and comfort rather than high speed.
